My name is Zhi Lee. Having been a freelance photographer for a number of years, shooting portraits and collaborating with models on a “time-for-prints” basis, I’ve finally committed to pursuing my dream of owning a studio in 2016. Thanks to my wife, I had a dedicated space at home to use as a studio.
Although we’ve sold that property in 2020 and don’t own a studio any more, I still enjoy creating images of my daughter(s) (now plural) as I watch them grow. It’s why I have chosen to focus on babies and kids.
Covid changed the photography industry and with people preferring to be photographed in open spaces, I continue to offer outdoor portrait shoots.
Ocassionaly I still shoot weddings.
As a young couple, we’ve watched so many people close to us get married within a span of 5 years, that we know weddings like the back of our hand.
Being recently married ourselves and having gone through the process of wedding planning, we recognize the importance of working with suppliers that engage with their clients on a personal level.
This website contains both personal and commissioned work. Photography allows me to express myself through the lens, allowing others to see the beauty in the minute details around our lives. I hope you gain as much enjoyment viewing these images as I did creating them.
My roots in photography started from the Howick Camera Club in 2009. Camera Clubs are a great environment to pick up photography with like-minded photographers and mentors. My first entry into a camera club competition was awarded a distinction, and I have never looked back. I joined the NZIPP in 2011. I have since worked with models, products, corporates, real estate, events and weddings.
